RARE PAIR OF STATUETTES ‘SPOTTED ROE DEER IN THE SNOW’ IN VERMEIL AND ROCK CRYSTAL
The two statuettes depict spotted roe deer in the snow. The spotted bodies are crafted from rock crystal and agate set within the vermeil. The mount is made of filled vermeil. Unsigned. Traces of the oval plaque that was once signed ‘Chaumet’.
Gross weight: 10.5 kg (both statuettes are filled).

The fame of this figure from Parisian nightlife comes to us in the form of two fallow deer in the snow. Imagine a sumptuous flat on the Place Vendôme, adorned with large Aubusson tapestries and fine 18th-century furniture, overlooking one of the most beautiful squares in Paris. These precious animals kept the fire burning in the fireplace. He was – and not least of all – one of Suzanne Belperron’s most prominent clients, whose 2005 sale remains, and will always remain, unique.
To round off this brief portrait, we might mention, in no particular order, the venues he created and brought to life: the Jardins d’Edgard, Club 78, a hotel in Saint-Tropez and the unforgettable L’Hotel, where, quite simply, Oscar Wilde, Mistinguett, Serge Gainsbourg were regulars in their day.
