GOUDJI (Elizbar GOUDJI, known as, born in 1941). A torque necklace inspired by ancient Persian and Scythian jewellery, crafted from 800‰ silver, forming a hollow silver band in a half-moon shape topped with granulated pyramids, all connected to a chain featuring alternating smooth and granulated silver discs, with a hook clasp; the central cameo is a relief-carved lapis lazuli depicting deer, typical of Persian hunting motifs. Stamped ‘G’ and master’s hallmarks (crushed). Length: 14 cm. Gross weight: 135.6 g. Elizbar Goudji, known as Goudji, was born in Georgia in 1941 and settled in France in 1974. Trained in sculpture in Tbilisi, he has become one of France’s greatest contemporary goldsmiths, creating jewellery, objets d’art and liturgical works for numerous religious institutions. His style, inspired by ancient, Byzantine and medieval civilisations, combines precious metals and semi-precious stones in handcrafted pieces that are very often one-of-a-kind.
