It is silence that sets sleep free”. With warm regards, René Char 211 rue de la Convention Paris The inscription quotes the third paragraph of *Artine*, published in 1930 by the same publisher. Associated with André Breton, Robert Desnos and Henri Michaux, the famous photographer Claude Cahun (1894–1954) was also a writer. René Char and Claude Cahun probably crossed paths in the literary section of the A.E.A.R. in early 1933. From the Hubert Heilbronn library, with bookplate. The prospectus for the book, written by Tristan Tzara, is enclosed. Heavy foxing.
