In 1960, Char wrote the introductory text for the Vieira da Silva exhibition at the Jeanne Bucher Gallery. Together, in January 1963, they produced a small book published by PAB, then in 1973 undertook the project that would result in *Sept portraits*” (Coron, *René Char*, 2007, p. 146.) A sumptuous binding adorned with a two-tone relief design by Pierre-Lucien Martin, executed with consummate skill. (Original binding, National Library, 1965, no. 312.)
