The illustrations comprise 14 original engravings: 1 woodcut by Arp, 2 drypoints by Hans Bellmer, 1 drypoint by Valentine Hugo, 1 lithograph by Wols and 9 etchings by Camille Bryen, Oscar Dominguez, Max Ernst, Alberto Giacometti, S.W. Hayter, Wifredo Lam, Man Ray, André Masson and Joan Miró. Limited edition of 150 copies on Rives vellum (no. 115), signed at the top by all the illustrators, with the exception of Dominguez and Wols, who had died before publication.
