Paul ÉLUARD. *Dans la cellule de l’isolement* and *Le dernier chant*. [1949]. Autograph manuscripts, 2¼ pages, small quarto, 2 sheets of squared paper with holes for a ring binder, with crossings-out and corrections.
Working manuscripts of the translation of two poems by the Greek patriot Yannopoulos, who was executed in 1948 after several years’ imprisonment.
These poems, together with those Éluard composed during his stay in Greece in the spring of 1949, were included in the second edition of the collection *Grèce ma rose de raison*, alongside other poems by Yannopoulos and Astéris, another Greek resistance fighter. (Éluard, Œuvres complètes II, Pléiade, pp. 286 and 288.)
