André Frénaud’s fifth book, illustrated by his collaborator Raoul Ubac, with whom he had been working since 1943. “From this encounter was to spring a long friendship coupled with a close collaboration, resulting in ten superbly illustrated books ranging from *Énorme figure de la déesse Raison* (1950) to *Construire en marguerite* (1981)” (Jean-Paul Madou in *La Voix et le Geste*, *André Frénaud and his painters*, p. 77).
