First edition of the translation by the poet André du Bouchet, illustrated with seven original etchings by Max Ernst.
The frontispiece appears in four states (black, then blue, pink and yellow) and there are three colour prints.
Limited edition of 300 copies, signed by the publisher, the translator and the artist. An artist’s copy, containing, like the 90 first copies on Rives vellum paper, the seven original engravings by Max Ernst.
A copy belonging to André Pieyre de Mandiargues, with an autograph dedication by Max Ernst on the half-title page, partly written in the form of imaginary ideograms.
