Description
André MARTEL. Les Mirivis des Naturgies. Paris, Alexandre Loewy, 1962–1963. Large quarto, loose-leaf, illustrated cover, with the publisher’s illustrated slipcase and folder. First edition: the text has been hand-written in calligraphy and illustrated with 16 original full-bleed lithographs by Jean Dubuffet, including one on the slipcase. A single print run of 116 copies on Auvergne paper, signed by the author and the painter (no. 105). The book was printed by Serge Lozingot on Jean Dubuffet’s presses during the winter of 1962–1963. This is the second collaborative book between ‘le Martélandre’ and Jean Dubuffet, the title of which, according to André Martel himself, means ‘the marvellous mirror of the face of nature’s surges’. A fine copy from the collection of the sculptor Arman, bearing his bookplate. A few pinholes.
