Description
André MAUROIS. *The Weigher of Souls*, preceded by a frontispiece and followed by eight illustrations by Francis Picabia. Paris, Antoine Roche, 1931. In-4, tobacco-coloured Jansenist morocco, spine with four raised bands, gilt fillets on the edges and inner border, untrimmed, gilt head, cover preserved (Pouillet). First edition: illustrated with 9 colour compositions by Picabia, including the frontispiece, reproduced by Daniel Jacomet. One of 18 copies on Imperial Japanese paper, this being one of the 9 accompanied by a supplementary set (no. 13). The supplementary set of illustrations on Arches paper was bound at the end alongside those printed on Imperial Japon paper. A fine copy despite the spine being slightly sun-faded.
