Description
Henri MICHAUX. Un certain Plume. Paris, Éditions du Carrefour, 1930.
In-12, plum-coloured Jansenist snakeskin, box calf linings in the same shade, untrimmed, gilt headband, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (Emmanuelle Cheney 2005).
First edition, rare.
“This collection comprises thirty-four texts, arranged in five parts. Nine of them have never been reprinted” (Raymond Bellour in Michaux, Pléiade I, p. 1257).
One of 30 copies on Pannekoek Holland paper, second paper (no. XXXIV). Some of the texts had appeared in the journal *Commerce* in 1930. More importantly, the book was the source of tensions with Gaston Gallimard, who, in a letter, reminded Michaux that he was bound by contract to his publishing house. (Imbert, no. 43.)
