Description
[Henri MICHAUX]. Gyula HalÁsz, known as BRASSAÏ. Portrait of Henri Michaux. Undated [1946].
Silver print, 26.8 x 20.1 cm, with handwritten annotations and the stamp “Brassaï 81 rue du Faubourg St Jacques” on the reverse. A fine portrait showing Henri Michaux from the front, cigarette in hand.
It is well known how reluctant Michaux was to be photographed: Brassaï was one of the very few photographer friends with whom the poet socialised.
Contemporary print with the photographer’s stamp on the reverse. Traces of creases.
