Description
Henri MICHAUX. Children’s Drawings, Children’s Essays. The Beginnings. [Paris], Gallimard, 1982. Stapled quarto booklet, printed cover.
Offprint of two texts by Michaux, taken from the journal *Débat*, no. 21, September 1982, including *Children’s Drawings, Children’s Essays – The Beginnings*, featuring some thirty handwritten corrections. According to Maurice Imbert (no. 291), only 20 copies of this offprint were produced.
Autograph copy signed and sent to the writer and translator Diana Grange-Fiori:
With affection / to Diana Fiori / who knows better than anyone / what it means / to be attentive to ‘the other’ / children’s drawings, / children’s essays / and an essay by an author seeking to step outside himself / Henri Michaux.
Henri Michaux also inscribed the recipient’s name on the cover. Diana Fiori (1918–2001) notably translated Verlaine, Nerval and Cioran into Italian, as well as Michaux’s *Ombres pour l’éternité* in 1973 and *Un barbare en Asie* in 1974.
