Description
Henri MICHAUX. The Annunciation. Moments. Paris, Les Bibliophiles de l’Automobile Club de France, 1996. Large square quarto, tab-bound, matt black calfskin, plain spine, covers decorated diagonally with a two-tone embossed pleated leather design, red halo airbrushed onto the upper cover, carmine red suede endpapers and linings, cover and spine preserved (N. Kiyomiya). Posthumous first edition of the poem *Annonciation*. Limited edition of 130 copies on BFK Rives vellum, this one inscribed to Paul-Louis Ravier (no. 28). The illustrations consist of 7 original aquatints by Zao Wou-Ki, two of which are in colour. The artist returns to the first poet he ever illustrated and the one whose encounter proved decisive. Furthermore, “this volume marks the culmination of the long series of bibliophile editions, begun with *Lecture* […], for which Zao Wou-Ki himself produced the plates or lithographic stones” (Yann Hendgen). A suite of the aquatints is enclosed.
