Benjamin PÉRET. At 125 Boulevard Saint-Germain. A tale featuring a drypoint by Max Ernst and three drawings by the author. Paris, 1923. In-12, black half-maroquin with bands, plain, unmarked spine; covers decorated with strips of varnished decorative paper, with a central strip of black morocco bearing the title, the author’s name and the illustrator’s name; morocco linings of the same shade; cover intact, entirely untrimmed, half-suede slipcase with lime-green corners (Florent Rousseau, 2008). First edition. Limited edition of 181 copies, this one printed on unlined laid paper. Original drypoint by Max Ernst as a frontispiece, printed on mounted Chinese paper. This is the artist’s first original engraving created for a book. The illustrations also include three full-page drawings by the author. Paper uniformly browned.
