Benjamin PÉRET. Three Cherries and a Sardine. With an illustration by Yves Tanguy. Paris, GLM (Repères Collection), 1936. Large in-8 booklet, loose-leaf, with a red paper cover with flaps. First edition: illustrated with a composition by Yves Tanguy, reproduced in line art at the top of the page. Limited edition of 70 copies on tinted Normandy vellum, signed by the publisher (no. 44). Autographed copy with a dedication on the title page: To Henri Parisot / who sometimes imitates a dancer pulling up her garter, his friend / Benjamin Péret / 9 May 1938 A translator from English and German, Henri Parisot (1908–1979) became associated with the Surrealists in the pre-war years. In 1945, he contributed to Max-Pol Fouchet’s journal *Fontaine* and founded the *L’Âge d’or* collection, which was taken over in 1948 by Robert Marin Publishers, and subsequently by the bookshop *Les Pas perdus* until 1951. He revived the series in 1964 with Flammarion, publishing rare romantic, fantasy and surrealist works: by Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Coleridge and Leonora Carrington. A pristine copy.
