HERMES, Paris. Rare ‘Anémones’ square: in printed silk twill, featuring a design of purple anemones on a black background. Designed by Caty LATHAM. First edition in 1980. Reissued in 1983. 88 x 89 cm. No box. No label. Very good condition, with a few loose threads. This scarf is part of Hermès’s great floral tradition. Caty Latham holds a special place at Hermès for her treatment of floral motifs. Far from a simple, passive botanical illustration, her vision of flowers is highly graphic. “Anémones”: her most iconic floral masterpiece. In it, she blends anemones with Baroque-inspired arabesques, creating a hypnotic and highly contrasting pattern.
