PACO RABANNE. ‘1969 Crystal Resin’ bag, Original/Medium: pink in colour, made from an arrangement of transparent plastic discs linked by metal rings. Adjustable silver-coloured metal chain for wearing over the shoulder or across the body. Inside is a pale pink leather pouch, featuring a Paco Rabanne plaque and a magnetic button fastening. Approx. H 17 x W 23 x D 3 cm. Comes with box and dust bag. Very good condition. Circa 2020. Crafted from experimental materials and assembled by hand, the 1969 bag symbolises Rabanne’s innovative elegance. Fifty years after its creation, the bag remains an iconic must-have that is still boldly modern today, reimagined in pink plastic. The hand-assembly of the 1969 bag is the very essence of Rabanne’s artisanal craftsmanship. Assembled entirely by hand using a goldsmith’s pliers, without any stitching or glue. Between 200 and 300 Plexiglas discs are linked together by hundreds of metal rings made of brass or steel. Each ring is opened, slipped through the perforations of two to four adjacent discs, then closed by hand to form a flexible chain mail-like structure. The shoulder strap is attached directly to the upper mesh, and the removable leather pouch is slipped inside.
