The camouflage pattern in shades of olive green, khaki and black is dotted with flowers and the LV logo. 90cm, width 35mm. The Louis Vuitton Monogramouflage belt is a cult piece born out of one of the most memorable collaborations in 2000s fashion. In 2008, Marc Jacobs (Creative Director of Louis Vuitton) renewed his partnership with the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Following the massive success of the Monogram Multicolore and the Monogram Cherry Blossom, they devised a concept that brought together military aesthetics and utilitarian luxury: the Monogramouflage. Murakami’s idea was to transform the military camouflage pattern (a symbol of concealment and combat) by superimposing the LV Monogram – the ultimate symbol of social status and luxury – onto it.
