HERMES Paris. Gavroche clutch bag: in printed silk twill, titled ‘La Promenade de Longchamps’: in shades of brown and burgundy on a white and cream background, designed by Ledoux. Label. Approx. 42 x 42 cm. Hermès box. Good condition. Originally produced as a square scarf. The central motif features a circular procession of horse-drawn carriages, landaus and teams, framed by details of harnesses and a foliage border. Philippe Ledoux was Hermès’s leading specialist in maritime and equestrian scenes. He brought a remarkable attention to historical detail and finesse of engraving to his designs. The Gavroche clutch is versatile; thanks to its size, it can be worn in the hair, around the neck, as a bag accessory, in a jacket pocket, etc.
