Description
HERMES Paris. Silk twill carré featuring the ‘Harnais de cour’ print: designed by Ledoux, predominantly in salmon, brick red and dark green, with a wide khaki border. Label. 87 x 89 cm. Stains, loose threads. Hermès box. The scarf depicts two sets of royal ceremonial harness, featuring intricately crafted leather, twisted buckles, rosettes and plumes. The great subtlety of Philippe Ledoux’s design lies in a deceptive yet poetic trompe-l’œil effect: the two ceremonial harnesses face each other as if they were being worn by parade horses… but the horses are invisible. Only the perfect shape of the harnesses subtly outlines the silhouette, the gait and the raised heads of the horses. First published in 1977. Reissued.
