Description
Greece – Order of the Holy Sepulchre of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, set of Grand Crosses comprising: the pendant in the shape of a Latin cross flanked by two palm branches, the arms bearing the inscription in Greek meaning ‘by this sign thou shalt conquer – in the year 312’, the centres painted in enamel, the obverse depicting Christ Pantocrator, surrounded by the inscription appearing on the arms, to which is added ‘Jerusalem, Mother of Churches’, reverse depicting the Nativity with the inscription in French, surmounted by an articulated Byzantine imperial crown, screw-opening mechanism allowing a relic to be placed inside; silver plaque decorated with the Order’s cross in vermeil and enamel (small chip in the inscription), fastened by a spring pin and two side hooks (pin hook re-soldered), Lemaitre hallmark on the reverse of the plaque and ‘registered design + RD 708003’ on both pieces (small chips); with a sash (stained). In a brown cardboard case signed Cravanzola.
