Portugal – Order of Christ, founded in 1319, Commander’s jewel of the military model in the shape of a crowned Maltese cross in chiselled vermeil; on one side the arms are enamelled blue with white borders, on the other they are edged in white with amethyst inlays; the centre is in gold, hallmarked with a boar’s head; complete with ribbon. 75.7 x 48.9 mm France, late 19th century.
