Most watches have been opened to identify movement type and quality, including water resistant watches. The purchaser is advised to consult a watchmaker to review the water-resistance of the watch. Indications of the existence of a restoration, an accident or the state of preservation remain subject to the purchaser's personal judgement. The absence of any indication of replacement parts, restoration or accident in no way implies that an item is free of all present defects. All items shown may have been previously serviced and may contain non-original parts. The dimensions and weights of the items are approximate. Since the launch of the Constellation collection in 1952, the case backs of all watches have featured the same emblem: that of an astronomical observatory. This motif, inspired by observatory competitions, represents the dome of an observatory surrounded by eight stars, a reference to Omega's eight victories in the annual chronometry competitions organised by observatories between 1945 and 1952.
