Designed by the French watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht for Hermès, Le Temps Suspendu is a complication as poetic as it is invisible. It all hinges on the push-button at 9 o’clock: with a single press, the hour and minute hands freeze whilst the date hand disappears entirely. Whilst the time display is suspended, the movement continues to run without affecting its chronometric precision. Five minutes, five hours, a few days or even several weeks later, a further press of the push-piece is all it takes for the three hands to instantly return to their exact positions: suspended time then inexorably resumes its course, picking up exactly where the wearer of this complication had left off.
Thanks to a unique triple retrograde system – a world first protected by two patents – time literally fades away in the ‘Time Suspended’ zone at 12 o’clock. A true demonstration of horological creativity, this model won an award at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2011.
