PATEK PHILIPPE Early Tonneau, circa 1910s 18k yellow gold wristwatch. Curvex case with screw-down caseback. Screw-on crown. Glass missing. Silver dial with guilloché finish in the centre and around the edge. Arabic numeral hour markers. Railway-track minute track. Blued steel pear-shaped hands. Patek Philippe mechanical movement. Fabric strap with a replacement buckle. Dimensions: 25 x 40mm. Lug-to-lug width: 12mm A model that forms part of Patek Philippe’s earliest wristwatch productions. This tonneau shape remains famous thanks to the ‘Chronomètre Gondolo’ watches sold by the retailer Gondolo & Labouriau, based in Rio de Janeiro, for whom Patek Philippe created an exclusive collection of watches from 1872 through to the 1920s. An example on display at the Patek Philippe Museum under inventory number P-1322 features the same dial and hand configuration.
