The Italian War, written by the Times correspondent at the Franco-Sardinian camp, with illustrations. In Paris, published by C. Perrin, Publisher, & in Turin, March 1860–[1864].
Oblong quarto, green half-maroquin with corners, double gilt fillet edging the covers, gilt title in the centre of the front cover, gilt edges (contemporary binding).
A title page, a ‘Proclamation by Napoleon III to the Italians’ in gold lettering on an azure background, 39 battle scenes (numbered 1 to 40), colour lithographs by Carlo and Ferdinando PERRIN, two maps (‘Il Ticino’ & ‘Coline del Mincio’), twenty portraits, nineteen of which are also lithographs by Ferdinando PERRIN, and 118 pp. of text.
The twelfth portrait, listed in the table of contents as that of General Castelborgo, is replaced by that of General Mollard, lithographed by GEREMICCA.
One plate is detached; very slight foxing, except for five foxed leaves.
