Illustrated with 84 drawings and an original etching (as a separate plate), drawn and engraved on copper by P.-J. Poitevin. A print run of 877 copies; this copy is on unlined pure-thread paper, with marginal annotations in pencil.
This copy is enhanced by an autograph letter signed by the artist, addressed to Marius Boisson, editor at *Comoedia*, thanking him for his article on this work: “I am truly pleased with your opinion of my drawings and etchings. I believe I was right to ‘set’ my characters in a particular context, and I was tempted by Paris. But you know me, and the description you gave of me really amused me! ...” (1 page and 1/3 dated 31 December 1930, with a stamped envelope).
This copy is also supplemented by a partial series of 31 plates by Poitevin.
