A blue-and-white porcelain bowl with lid, known as ‘Hue blue’, decorated with four dragons battling in the clouds for the sacred pearl. Rimmed with metal.
Marked in blue under the glaze with four characters, ‘Thieu Tri Nien Tao’ (meaning ‘made during the reign of Thieu Tri’), beneath the base of the bowl and the lid.
Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century, reign of His Majesty Thieu Tri (1841–1847).
Diameter: 17.2 cm
(Ribbed).
Covered bowl decorated with four dragons among clouds vying for the sacred pearl. Marked “Thiệu Trị Niên Tạo” on the base of both the bowl and the lid.
