Description
REIGN OF HIS MAJESTY KHAI DINH (1916–1926). A silver-plated kim khanh in the shape of a ceremonial gong, modelled on Emperor Khai Dinh’s personal khanh, which was usually reserved for the reigning sovereign and made of jade or gold. Decorated with dragons and pearls along the edges, with two suspension holes, the central section bearing the inscription ‘Thụ Thiên Vĩnh Mệnh’ (‘eternal heavenly mandate’) on the obverse, and ‘Khải Định Trân Bảo’ (‘precious treasure of the Khải Định era’) on the reverse. Dimensions: 7 x 4 cm. Weight: 12.3 g. Expert: Edgar Clin.
