Description
A set of four large blue-and-white porcelain bowls, known as ‘Hué blue’, comprising: - Two bowls decorated with the motif known as the ‘metamorphosis of the fish into a dragon’, a symbol of social advancement. Marked ‘Noi Phu’ on the base. One has a metal rim. Diameter: 16.5 cm and 18.5 cm. (Chips on the rim). - One bowl decorated with a pheasant and hibiscus flowers. Apocryphal “Yongzheng” mark on the base. (Chips and cracks). - A large bowl decorated with a fisherman under a pine tree in a lakeside landscape, accompanied by a poem. (Chips to the rim). Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century.
