A blue-and-white porcelain bowl, known as ‘Hue blue’, decorated with blooming lotus flowers, reeds and a grasshopper. Blue underglaze mark consisting of four characters, “Nội Phủ Thị Nam”, meaning “Inner Palace, Southern Enclosure”, on the base. Made in China for Vietnam, late 18th century. Diameter: 12.3 cm. Height: 6.4 cm. (Minor chipping). The auspicious motif of the lotus, reeds and grasshopper, typical of porcelain intended for the Palace’s concubines, symbolises wishes for peace and fertility. Bowl decorated with blooming lotus flowers, reeds and a grasshopper, marked “Nội Phủ Thị Nam” (South Royal Palace).
