A lidded blue-and-white porcelain bowl, known as ‘Hue blue’, decorated with five dragons emerging from the waves and chasing the sacred pearl through the clouds. The lid is decorated with four dragons.
The mark ‘Nhat’ is inscribed in blue beneath the base. A blue underglaze mark consisting of four characters, ‘Thiệu Trị Niên Tạo’ (meaning ‘made during the reign of Thiệu Trị’), on the base of the lid.
Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century.
Diameter: 17.5 cm.

Covered bowl decorated with five dragons emerging from the waves and pursuing the sacred pearl amidst the clouds. The lid is decorated with four dragons and bears the mark ‘Thiệu Trị Niên Tạo’. The base is marked ‘Nhật’.
