Circa 1910–1920.
Dimensions: 13.8 × 18 cm.
Provenance: Lucien and Denise Scheler. Lucien Scheler, who moved in the circles of the Montparnasse artists in the 1920s, was a friend of Jean Tardieu, from whom he is said to have received this small panel.
Passed down through the family.
During the Great War, Tardieu produced a series of small woodcuts for the Duchess of Sutherland, who had set up a field hospital. The artist donated a number of these woodcuts to her; they are now on display at the Florence Nightingale Museum in London.
