Description
A blue-and-white porcelain tea set, known as ‘Hue blue’, decorated with the legend of Wang Zhi, a woodcarver who encountered two Immortals playing chess in a mountainous landscape (‘Vương Chất Gặp Tiên’).
It comprises three small bowls (one of which is rimmed with metal) and a tray.
Marked ‘Nhât’ in blue underglaze on the base.
Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century.
Tray diameter: 16.5 cm.
Bowl diameters: 6.7 cm and 7.3 cm.
