Description
Octagonal lidded bowl in blue-and-white porcelain known as ‘Hué blue’, decorated with dragons (‘Viên Long’) within medallions and friezes featuring the stylised ‘Three Mountains’ motif (Tam Son).
Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century, Thieu Tri period (1841–1847).
A four-character mark within the decoration on the bowl and lid reads ‘Thiêu Tri niên tao’, meaning ‘Made during the reign of Thieu Tri’.
Height: 6 cm. Diameter: 13.7 cm.
(Chip on the lid and very slight chipping).
Octagonal covered bowl decorated with dragons arranged in circular medallions, the ‘Viên Long’ motif, and friezes featuring the stylised motif of the three mountains (‘Tam Sơn’). Marked ‘Thiệu Trị Niên Tạo’ on both the lid and the bowl.
