REIGN OF HIS MAJESTY EMPEROR TU DUC (1847–1883)
Scroll of an imperial decree, dated the 26th day of the eleventh month of the third year of Emperor Tự Đức’s reign (1850).
On golden-yellow Dó paper from Annam, decorated with silver motifs depicting an imperial dragon and symbols of longevity. Bearing the imperial seal ‘Sắc Mệnh Chi Bảo’ (敕命之寶).
Dimensions: 50 x 117.5 cm.

The village of Thọ Vực, in the commune of Nghĩa Lộ, Từ Liêm district, traditionally venerated Lady Phương Anh (芳英夫人), a deity renowned for having protected the kingdom and its people and for manifesting her spiritual power. Already honoured with the title ‘Trinh Y Minh Khiết Tĩnh Quyên Chi Thần’ (貞懿明潔靜娟之神), the imperial court conferred upon her the additional title ‘Trinh Y Minh Khiết Tĩnh Quyên Nhàn Uyển Chi Thần ’ (貞懿明潔靜娟嫻婉之神) and authorised the continuation of her worship.
