Description
A large, lidded, octagonal bowl in blue-and-white porcelain, known as ‘Hue blue’, decorated with dragons in eight medallions and friezes of stylised mountains (Tam son). Blue mark beneath the lid consisting of four characters, ‘Thieu Tri Nien Tho’ (meaning ‘Made during the reign of Thieu Tri’), on both the lid and the bowl. Made in China for Vietnam, 19th century. Diameter: 18.8 cm. (Lid broken and re-glued, with chips and cracks). Large octagonal bowl decorated with dragons within eight medallions and stylised mountain friezes (“Tam Sơn”). Four-character blue underglaze marks reading “Thiệu Trị Niên Thọ” on both the lid and the bowl.
