A prayer altar in the form of a stele, carved from exotic wood and gilded. The main panel, decorated with gilded floral scrolls in relief, bears the inscription in Chinese characters: 伏位王正度荐灵京兆君姓黎諱龍一位之神魂: “The spirit of Lê Long, Lord of Kinh Triêu, honoured in the spirit rite at the royal position of Zheng Du”. Inscriptions on the side panels : Born in the year of Quý Dậu (Born in the year of Quý Dậu), Died on the 28th day of the 8th month of the year of At Suu (Died on the 28th day of the 8th month of the year of At Suu). Indochina, 20th century. Dedication on the base, on a metal plaque: ‘The officers of the Crab Squadron Group to their colonel. Cochinchina, 1949–1951.’ Total height: 37.2 cm. Width: 16 cm. Depth: 10.5 cm. (Minor knocks and chips). With the citation ‘In the Army Order’ for the 1st Squadron Group of the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Colonna-Renucci. The citation includes the award of the War Cross for Overseas Theatres of Operations. Handwritten text on paper imitating parchment with a wax seal, signed by the Secretary of State for War, DE CHEVIGNE and RIDAULT, and dated 14 November 1951. Framed. Indochina, 20th century. Dimensions: 40.7 × 24 cm (visible area). (Part of the frame is missing). Included: A black lacquered wooden tray decorated with a five-clawed dragon, the border adorned with a Greek fret frieze. Signed 靜月. Indochina, late 19th century – early 20th century. Dimensions: 26 × 41.2 cm. (Some parts missing).
