Infantry officer’s sabre, Model 1845, with a single-branch hilt in gilded bronze, a short-tailed pommel, and a guard plate decorated with openwork floral scrolls, the tang in fluted and filigree-worked ebony; the curved blade with hollow sides and a single cutting edge, engraved on the back with ‘Manuf(actu)re Imp(éria)le de Châtellerault August 1863’.
