Louis Vuitton Hat trunk, c.1910 Coated canvas on wood. ‘Monogram’ pattern with a ‘leathered canvas’ finish. Lid with leather handle, monogrammed ‘E.G.’. Beige fabric interior with a removable horizontal tray. Removable tray and ecru fabric interior. Label reading “Louis Vuitton 1 rue Scribe 149, New Bond St London” and numbered “131829”. Signed and numbered brass fittings. H 37 W 37 D 31 cm. Signs of wear, remnants of labels. Provenance: the collection of Jaques Guérin (1880–1962), Chief Curator of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris. His descendants.
