Description
Louis Vuitton Cabin trunk, c.1910 Coated canvas on wood. ‘Monogram’ covering with a ‘Moorish’ finish. Wooden reinforcements, nails and a signed brass lock. Lacquered metal handles and ‘E.G.’ monogram on the sides. Interior in ecru padded fabric and removable tray with multiple compartments. Label reading “Louis Vuitton 1 rue Scribe 149, New Bond St London” and numbered “140888”. Height 30, Width 90, Depth 54 cm. Signs of wear, stains, traces of labels and moisture marks. Provenance: the collection of Jaques Guérin (1880–1962), Chief Curator of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris. His descendants.
