Pair of armchairs
Moulded and carved walnut.
The cabriolet-style backs are violin-shaped and decorated with flowers and acanthus leaves; the armrests feature cuffs finished with scrolls; the scalloped and undulating moulding is adorned with flowers. They rest on four curved legs.
Seats and backrests are caned. The seat cushions are moulded.
One is of the Louis XV period, bearing a non-guaranteed mark, and the other is in the Louis XV style.
Height 91, Width 62, Depth 61 cm.
Minor imperfections and restoration.
Provenance: descendants of Jaques Guérin (1880–1962), chief curator of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris.
