Swabian, first half of the 16th century The Holy Family A fine group carved from lime wood. In the centre, seated on a throne-like bench, the Virgin Mary and Saint Anne hold the Infant Jesus, who is reaching out his right hand towards his Mother; on either side, leaning against the backrest crowned with a stylised shell, are depicted Joachim and Joseph. Height 52, Width 60, Depth 9 cm. A few pinholes. Provenance: the Aviau de Piolant collection, Château de Ternay, since the early 19th century. Carved limewood group made in Swabia in the first half of the 16th century, depicting the Holy Kinship.
