Description
Cylindrical desk Mahogany and mahogany veneer. White marble top framed by an openwork gallery surmounting three drawers. The cylinder reveals three recesses and three drawers. The top is finished in dark leather with a gold-coloured pattern of small ironwork and faux drawers at the base. Two side pull-outs. It opens via four drawers running around the middle, one of which contains a secret compartment. It stands on four tapered, fluted legs. Gilded bronze ornamentation on the gallery, lock openings, drawer pulls, rings and feet. Marked by Isaac-Simon Rebour, who was admitted as a master on 15 July 1767. Louis XVI period. Height 119.5, Length 128, Depth 69 cm. Minor damage, losses and restorations. Provenance: a Parisian collection.
