Description
Canopy bed Carved and lacquered wood. Resting on four posts, one-third of which are fluted and the rest upholstered, with small floral motifs at the joints. These support a canopy with a moulded top, decorated with shells, fluting and scrolls. The headboard is decorated with acanthus leaves, whilst the bed legs and crossbars feature scroll motifs. It stands on four tapered legs with rings, decorated with foliage motifs. Late 18th century. Height: 288, Length: 195, Width: 135 cm. Bed base: Length: 180, Width: 120 cm. Damage, missing parts and alterations. Provenance: a collection in the Limousin region.
