Description
Fireplace ornament featuring putti and allegorical figures Gilded bronze with a brown patina and white marble. The clock features two goddesses flanking the movement, with a white enamelled dial displaying the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals, signed ‘Jacquet-Lacarriere et Dagrin A Paris Rue du Petit Carreau 18’. The gilded bronze case is surmounted by a basin crowned with flowers, from whose ram’s-head handles garlands of roses and laurel hang down. It rests on a white marble base embellished with gilded bronze ornamentation depicting garlands of flowers, ears of wheat, scrollwork and small flowers, which in turn rests on spindle-shaped feet. Jacquet-Lacarrière set up his business at 18 Rue du Petit Carreau in Paris in 1840. He went into partnership with Dagrin in 1850. Candelabra featuring patinated bronze putti supporting a cluster of four gilded bronze arms emerging from a basin. They rest on a white marble base adorned with gilded bronze friezes and supported by spindle-shaped feet. A Parisian piece from the second half of the 19th century.
