Jean-Baptiste Eugène CORBIN (1867–1952) – École de Nancy Three tondos depicting scenes from everyday life Signed and dated Diameter: 19 cm, as seen Jean-Baptiste Corbin, known to his family as Eugène Corbin, was the youngest son of Antoine Corbin (1835–1901), founder of the Magasins Réunis in Nancy (destroyed during a bombing raid in 1916). Having become the owner of the shops, a friend to many artists and a painter himself, he began collecting furniture and works by various artists of the École de Nancy. From 1890 onwards, he became friends with Victor Prouvé (1858–1943), then in 1895 with Émile Gallé (1846–1904), and developed a keen interest in the École de Nancy. In 1909, he founded the magazine *Art et Industrie*.
