MURATORE (20th century) Landscape with Haystacks Oil on panel Signed ‘Muratore’ lower right 19 x 24 cm Whilst the haystack is the hallmark of Claude Monet, it is primarily associated with the 19th century. The motif nevertheless left its mark on Impressionism and Post-Impressionism through major artists such as Camille Pissarro, Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh, who made it a favoured subject for capturing the variations in light and the rural world. Our painting is an example of this.
