Description
18th-century chest of drawers, probably from the Dauphiné
The front features a crossbow-shaped design, with straight sides; it opens to reveal four drawers arranged in three rows and separated by visible cross-bars. Geometric decoration in veneer and marquetry of walnut, olive and rosewood within frames of chevron-patterned fillets. Black marble top with white veining. Gilded bronze fittings with lock cases and movable handles.
H: 80 – W: 117 – D: 67 cm
Signs of wear, damage, restoration, veneer chips, damaged rear leg, replaced marble top, most likely substituting a wooden top with marquetry decoration, and replaced bronze fittings.
